The Society was founded in 1859 by Queen Victoria to encourage residents in growing and showing of their plants.
Public meetings are held in the Mike Sheridan Room in the Halls at 7.30pm on the first Monday of the month from November (AGM), February, March, April and the second Monday of May and comprise illustrated talks followed by refreshments.
Our Annual Quiz Night with Wine and Nibbles is held on the first Monday in December in the Mike Sheridan Room in the Halls at 7.30pm.
Our Annual Plant sale is held on Saturday 11th June 9.30 – noon in the Victoria Hall.
Our Annual Exhibition & Flower Show is held the third weekend of August in the Victoria Hall (Horticulture) and Mike Sheridan Room (Home Produce, Crafts and Children’s Section).
Full membership, £10 annually, includes entry to all meetings and exhibiting at the Annual Exhibition.
Affiliated membership, £5 annually, covers exhibiting at the Annual Exhibition. Visitors are welcome to attend the talks for £3. Meetings are advertised on posters throughout the village, in the Eagle Diary and on our Facebook page.
We also plant up and maintain the tubs throughout the village. Help in this is always welcome.
