The evening will commence with a drinks reception to be held in the Albert Hall\, and some “very special” entertainment will take place\, to formally recognise the anniversary. The Formal Dinner will follow\, and will be held in the Victoria Hall\, where attendees will enjoy some good food and refreshments followed by some enjoyable entertainment. The cost of the Dinner will be £55 per person\, and tickets will be on sale from 1st June 2025.

DESCRIPTION:The Scottish 6 Days Orienteering Event returns to the delights of Royal Deeside from Sunday 27th July 2025 until Friday 1st August 2025. \nTo celebrate the 25th Scottish 6 Days Orienteering Event we are taking the event back to Royal Deeside where the fourth Scottish 6 Days Event was held back in 1983. The area is well known to be an orienteering jewel with copious amounts of contour detail and glorious forested hills which offer spectacular views out over the River Dee for those who raise their heads from their maps. \nSomething for all the family…\nRoyal Deeside 2025 will have five days of forest competition beginning on Sunday 27th July 2025 then continuing on Monday\, Tuesday\, Thursday and ending on Friday 1st August. \nAs usual\, the Central Organising Team is already working hard to ensure you enjoy a variety of terrain with something for everyone and a few new challenges. There will be competitive age-class courses\, colour-coded courses and string courses for the young and the young at heart! The event centre will be based in Ballater and there will be rest day activities for those who need an orienteering-based activity on their day off. We are also planning a full social calendar with a ceilidh\, quiz and whisky tasting already in the pipeline. \nIt is\, however\, a holiday based event and when not orienteering there are plenty of local attractions to keep you entertained. There are castles from Braemar in the west to Dunnottar on the coast\, Lochnagar and many other Munros to climb\, as well distilleries to visit\, golf courses to play on\, and wildlife to watch. There is lots to keep every member of the family entertained! \nWe look forward to welcoming you to Royal Deeside in 2025 for a week-long orienteering holiday.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that the Ballater Walking Festival 2025 will take place from 17th-23rd May. \nInformation on all walks & to book your space on a walk: https://www.walkballater.com/  \nBOOKING – Walkers should pre-book each walk using our online booking system which will open in January. Please do not send your bookings or any cheques by post. Each walk has a limited number of places\, so please only book walks that you feel you would be able to do and are within your capabilities. \nEQUIPMENT REQUIRED – Please bring a small first aid kit for self-treatment of minor injuries and it would be useful to have hand sanitiser and disposable gloves. Ensure that you bring your downloaded “In Case of Emergency” ICE Card.  The ICE card should be put in the top of your rucksack\, in a see-through plastic folder. If you have any specific medical conditions that the leader needs to know about\, PLEASE make these known. Any medical conditions will be treated in confidence. You can download your ICE card form Here. \nDo not forget that our climate in May can be changeable\, from surprisingly cold to roasting and anything in between!  Please dress accordingly and pack your rucksack with extra gear as required. Appropriate footwear is mandatory. Please remember to bring water\, hot drinks\, snacks/lunch\, gloves\, woolly hats\, spare socks\, sun hats\, sunglasses\, sun-cream\, walking poles. \nWHERE TO MEET – Walkers will meet at the Green Hut on the Village Green\, which is opposite Glenmuick Church in the centre of the village. The exception being Walk 19\, which will have a meeting point at Balmoral/Crathie (see walk description). \nTRANSPORT – If the walk is circular\, you may be required to take your own or share transport. If you are willing to take others in your car\, the walk leader or helper will allocate some walkers\, and we would encourage them to pay for any parking and/or contribute to fuel expenses. \nSTART TIMES – The start time of each walk is noted with the walk descriptions. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time\, so that the group is ready to depart at the scheduled time. \nDEFIB – Thanks to the raffle held in 2021\, we are delighted to say that we will have mobile defibrillators on most of the walks. Obviously\, we hope that these will not be required\, but it is good to know that they are there in case of emergency. \nEVENING ENTERTAINMENT – There will be a programme of evening entertainment starting on Saturday with a Welcome Reception – Monday Yoga by Carole and an evening film – the Festival Dinner on Wednesday – a Concert on Thursday – the final fling Ceilidh on Friday evening (Scottish dancing). Please note that you do not need a partner at a ceilidh. We hope that on the other evenings you will go out and meet some of your new acquaintances in Ballater. More information to follow. \nPLEASE NOTE – The leader has the authority to shorten\, change or abandon any walk in the case of bad weather or dangerous terrain such as high rivers or waterlogged bogland. \nPlease read the full description of the walk\, and ensure that you only book walks that are within your capabilities. \n
